Sworn or certified translations, in the simplest definition, are those carried out by a sworn translator, a person who has been duly authorised by the Minister of Justice. These are usually translations of procedural and official documents. They are formally distinctive and also have legal force. Printed out, stamped by the translator and bearing his/her signature, they may be presented to an office or state authority (e.g. a university, an office, a consulate).

Who translates?
Sworn translators registered in the list of the Ministry of Justice, members of TEPIS (Polish Society of Sworn and Specialised Translators). Persons of public trust, specialising in the translation of official documents based on knowledge of the law and many years of experience.
For whom?
Individuals, companies and institutions: applicants for citizenship, permanent residency, work permits, foundations, universities, international organisations, accountancy offices, parties to civil proceedings, law firms, notary offices and others.
What is translated?
- proof of education (certificate, diploma, diploma supplement, language certificate, certificate of completion of a course or training)
- birth, death, marriage certificates – abridged/full copy
- motor vehicle documents (registration documents, purchase/sales agreement, invoice, driving licence)
- official documents (power of attorney, notarial deed, suretyship, legal opinion)
- employment certificate
- medical certificate
- identity card
- criminal record, registration certificate, certificate of legal capacity to marry
- Apostille
- contracts (commercial contract, company contract, leasing contract, insurance contract, loan contract, mandate contract)
- financial documents (invoices, financial statements, bank statements)
- excerpt from the National Court Register (KRS), extract from the Land and Mortgage Register
- documents necessary for the marriage with a foreigner
How is it translated?
In accordance with the Act on the Profession of Sworn Translators, based on a billing page of 1125 characters with spaces.
On the basis of an original document: submitted in person, sent by post or courier service.
On the basis of a copy of the document (scan, photocopy, legible photo): sent by e-mail.
- The type of sworn translation (from copy/original) depends on the specific institution to which the documents will be sent.
