FAQ

How much does a translation cost?

The price of a translation is determined by many factors, including its type (e.g. a non-sworn or a sworn translation), volume of the text (counted in signs with spaces), combination of languages, delivery time, level of difficulty of the translation, etc. Hence the necessity to analyse the text. If you would like to receive a free quote of your translation, we encourage you to contact us through a form: https://polyland.pl/bezplatna-wycena/ or via email: bok@polyland.pl.

What is a sworn translation?

A sworn/certified translation can only be done by a sworn translator with proper qualifications, entered in the list of translators maintained by the Ministry of Justice. Sworn translations have to contain formal elements, such as the repertory number, translator’s seal, an annotation stating whether the translation was made based on an original document or a copy, as well as the date and signature of the translator.

What’s the difference between a sworn translation and a certified translation?

A sworn and a certified translation are the exact same kinds of translation.

I got an information that my translation has to be done by a sworn translator listed with the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Poland. Are your translators on this list?

Yes, all of our sworn translators are listed with the Ministry of Justice.

How can I know if I need a sworn translation?

Client is the one to decide what kind of translation they want. Therefore, please contact the institution/business/bank and ask whether they require a sworn translation, or if a non-sworn translation with a seal of the agency is enough. Usually, certified translations are required for official, legal documents (e.g. USC acts, slips, contracts, declarations, bank statements, etc.)

Do I have to provide you with the original document?

Not necessarily. However, you will have to present the original document in a case of a sworn translation that has to include an annotation about it being translated from an original document (it’s important especially if it comes to a certificate of birth/marriage/death). If you’re interested in an non-sworn translation or a sworn translation made from a copy – just send us a scan or a photo of your document.

Do you translate offhand?

Unfortunately not. A translation (just as any other professional service) requires attentiveness. Especially when it comes to sworn translations – one misspeling can make the whole translation invalid. Obviously, there is a possibility to make an express translation, but only in individual cases – depending on, for example, the difficulty, volume and main subject of the given text.

Why is payment in advance mandatory for the implementation?

Sending payment confirmation is a condition for implementation only in the case of new and individual clients. That way, we are sure the new client confirms the commission (they will not cancel it during the process nor change their mind) – this procedure has been established based on our many years’ experience and numerous uncollected translations. If you’re interested in a long-term collaboration, we will fix the terms individually and alter them to your needs.

What’s the location of your office?

Our office is located in the Krowodrza district. We are settled in LOFTMILL office on Królewska street, 65a/1 (choose number 1 on the intercom, the reception is on the first floor). We encourage you to take a look on Google maps before you decide to visit us. The entrance to our office is between Copylandia (printing works) and FamLab company. The building is located between Biprostal and the University of the National Education Commission. Public transport: “Biprostal” and “UKEN” stops. By car: Królewska street is in the C subzone (parking in the centre of Kraków is divided into paid parking zones).

Do I have to show up at your office?

If you need a non-sworn translation – there is no need to. Send the source text via email and you will receive it the same way in the target text. When it comes to sworn translations, you can collect the original translation yourself (we can also send it by post, by the courier or to a parcel locker). As a matter of fact, visiting us is necessary only if you are to show us the original document.

Do I have to collect the original sworn translation in person?

No, you do not have to, but you can. We can send the original by post, by courier or to a parcel locker as well. An authorized person can also collect the sworn translation on your behalf.

I got 2 pages-long translation. Why am I paying for 4?

Translation pages are not equal to A4 format pages – this is an extremely important information, that is to be remembered. One page of a sworn translation consists of 1125 signs with spaces. One page of a non-sworn translation equals 1500 signs with spaces. In the case of sworn translations, every sign above 1125 signs with spaces makes another page (we cannot settle, for example, half a page).

If you want to order a duplicate after collecting the translation – then the cost of the duplicate will amount to 50% of the translation’s cost.

Do you translate from one foreign language to another?

In the case of non-sworn translations – yes, of course. However, if it comes to sworn translations – in accordance with the law, in the first place they have to be translated into Polish. For example: if you need a certified translation from Ukrainian into English, we have to translate from Ukrainian to Polish and then from Polish to English.
